It's the first release in Origami's ReWork project, which reclaims porcelain that doesn't pass inspection at the company's factory in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, and puts it back to work. The rejected pieces are crushed, ground to a fine powder and mixed into fresh Mino-ware porcelain clay, so every ReWork dripper contains 20% recycled porcelain. It's left unglazed, giving it a matte, textured finish with a subtle shimmer that comes from the recycled material itself.

Inside, it's the same design that made the ORIGAMI a favourite with filter geeks. Twenty vertical ribs hold the paper away from the dripper wall, so water drains freely and evenly, and the wide 25mm drip hole means flow is governed by your grind and pour rather than by the dripper. The real party trick is that it takes both conical and wave filter papers. A cone paper gives you a faster, cleaner brew in the style of a V60. A wave paper sits flat across the bottom for a more even bed and a rounder, sweeter cup, closer to a flat-bottom brewer.

The ReWork comes in two sizes. The small measures 115mm across and 70mm high for one or two cups, taking V60 01 cones or Kalita Wave 155 filter papers. The medium measures 140mm across and 87mm high for two to four cups, and takes V60 02 cones or Kalita Wave 185 papers. Both are heat resistant up to 120°C and safe in the microwave and dishwasher. Thanks to the recycled clay they're a few millimetres larger than the original Origami, but they still take the same filters and holders. Drippers rejected for flaws such as bubbles from firing or tiny specks of iron are set aside, crushed through three grinding stages into a fine powder, sieved and kneaded back into fresh porcelain clay. The ReWork Dripper is the first product made this way, with 20% recycled porcelain in every piece.

How is the ReWork different from the standard Origami Dripper?

The shape and brewing performance are the same, but the ReWork is unglazed with a matte finish and is a few millimetres larger because of the recycled clay. It still takes the same filter papers and holders. As it's unglazed, the surface may show fine irregularities or tiny pinholes, which Origami says are a natural part of the material.

Which filter papers fit the Origami ReWork Dripper?

Both conical and wave papers fit. The small takes 1 to 2 cup cones such as Hario V60 01, or Kalita Wave 155 papers. The medium takes 2 to 4 cup cones such as Hario V60 02, or Kalita Wave 185 papers.

Should I use conical or wave filters?

It depends on the cup you're after. Conical papers drain faster and tend to give a brighter, cleaner cup with lots of clarity, which suits delicate, floral coffees. Wave papers create a flat coffee bed that drains more slowly and evenly, usually giving more body and sweetness. It's worth trying the same coffee both ways to see the difference.

Should I choose the small or medium ReWork Dripper?

Go for the small if you mostly brew a single cup, typically up to around 300ml. Choose the medium if you regularly brew for two or more people, or like larger batches for the morning. A dripper that matches your usual brew size will give you a more even bed and better extraction than a larger one that's only partly filled.

Do I need a holder?

A holder isn't included, but Origami strongly recommends one. Its wooden and resin holders cradle the dripper securely so it sits steadily on your cup or server while you pour. The ReWork fits the same holders as the original Origami Dripper.

Is the ReWork Dripper dishwasher and microwave safe?

Yes, it's safe in both the dishwasher and the microwave, and it's heat resistant up to 120°C. As the surface is unglazed, a quick rinse straight after brewing will help keep it looking its best.

Should I preheat my ceramic dripper?

Yes. Porcelain absorbs heat, so a cold dripper will pull temperature out of your brew water. Rinsing your paper filter with hot water before brewing preheats the dripper at the same time, which keeps your brew temperature stable and gets rid of any papery taste.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0023/1572/files/Origami_ReWork_Dripper_M_Front_Transparent.png?v=1792582943
